Four score and thirteen years ago
our forefathers brought forth on this continent,
a new notion, conceived in revenue,
and dedicated to the proposition
that all men are created violent.

Now we are engaged in a great cultural war,
testing whether that notion, or any notion so conceived
and so profitable, can long endure.
We are met on a grand gridiron of that war.

We have come to a realization that on that field,
we have created a great empire
by glorifying those who give their bodies
so that that we might prosper.
Yet others see it fitting and proper
that we should rue this.

But, in a practical sense, we cannot monetize--
we cannot advertise -- we cannot proselytize –
lest we hallow this ground.
Yet, the brave men, crippled and concussed,
who collided till catatonic here
have consecrated it
far above our shrewd power to conceal.

The world will little note,
nor long remember the words spoken here,
but it may never forget the price
these players paid.
It is for us the beneficiaries rather,
to be dedicated to the unfinished work
which our legal teams and PR firms
have thus far so nobly advanced.

It is rather for us to be here dedicated
to the great task remaining before us --
that from these sacrificial gladiators
we take increased devotion
to that cause for which they gave
the last full measure of their vital organs.

that we here highly resolve that these poor suckers
shall not have played in vain --
that this notion,
under open sky or closed dome,
shall have a new birth disguised as drug and injury free --
and that a league of the moneyed
by the moneyed, for the moneyed,
shall not perish from this turf.

Good Luck on your Super Bowl Bets, and let's go 49ers!
