Men's reading club
(read: eating club)
met last night. ...during which Steve S. (age 61) announces that he's going to run NYC marathon. What follows (after pregnant pause) is round of questioning more than just a wee bit skeptical in tone...but Steve S. is a determined man and we soon learn of Steve's ongoing training regimen, goals and expectations related to his desire to do what none of we others would even consider, even if 20 years younger...except for Sol H., who did it twice while in his mid 30s.  But then Steve S. lets us in on his secret weapon.  And if given a thousand  guesses at what it might be I doubt any of us would have stumbled upon it.  Drum roll please.  CHOCOLATE MILK!  Steve thinks we're laughing at him, (which we are as Alex M. confirms) but Steve's praises for this magic elixir couldn't be more passionate...and so off I go today to the web and lo and behold...

Multiple research studies tout the power of chocolate milk and its role in recovery.
"The claims are that chocolate milk (or any flavored milk) contains the perfect ratio of carbohydrate to protein (between 3:1 to 4:1) to hasten recovery after intense exercise, it helps replace fluids and electrolytes lost during exercise, it contains key nutrients for health such as calcium and vitamin D, and it is relatively inexpensive when compared to the engineered sports beverages on the market today."

And in head to head comparison with popular "Energy" drinks like Gatorade, Chocolate Milk seems to have the edge in all the most important categories-  but the news isn't particularly surprising when you realize that It's all just one more step towards confirming Woody Allen's prophesies in Sleeper.

Traveling the Globe.  To capture images of everything you ever wanted to see..

...and just for good measure, everything else.

Check out this Stand-Alone site with 360 degree panoramic views of....well, at first, I thought it was just  popular and renowned  places.  But then I discovered that it was much deeper than that.  And then,  on a whim, I thought I'd look for the not particularly popular and not remotely renowned  out of the way caribbean beach on which we're planning to spend a week in February and ...there it was.  And there I was!  When Google announced they were going to digitize every book in existence and photograph every square foot on the planet--I didn't doubt they could, but I didn't think they could do it so fast.

Pretty amazing... and it's where I'll be spending the rest of my blogging hour today.
And maybe tomorrow.
