Obama Agonistes

You can plead and cajole, accept no defeats
make appeals, and make speeches and take to the streets
You can call out the cowards who sit on the fence

And argue for justice and plain common sense

Till you just shake your head-- 
wondering how can it be?

as greed stills the voice

 of our citizenry.

But Ruger and Remington need no civics lesson

Nor do Mossberg or Browning, nor Colt, Smith and Wesson 

 The sound that you hear comes from their hired guns

And it's the sound of the way of the world as it runs

 And the song that they sing goes : 
" Free Markets are King!
Bang Bang, 
Rat-a-tat-tat, 
Amen and Ka-Ching."
