An Olympics Closing Ceremonies Bacronym :

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

"Techno Horriblis Entertainment Extremis" may portend impotence reflecting entropy.  So terribly retro.  Inane kinetic extravaganza.  Stale Beatles.  Anesthetized culture killers.

WTF?  I only watched about 15 minutes all told (switching back and forth with the Mets taking it to the Braves and then just barely hanging on at the end) but when I saw this, I got too frightened and confused to continue much further.  Couldn't even tell what theme was being interpreted or socio/political/historical era regurgitated.

Random musing: The mudbath that is the political arena attracts our interest only by virtue of our sufficient distance from the action to avoid being sullied by the slimy splatter.

Paul Ryan selection cues entrance of my favorite political term: Presumptive nominee. Rare reflection of humility required by one who has yet to earn or receive a vote.   Distant echos of our Anglo ancestors:  Dr. Livingstone I presume?

Been meeting and interviewing (more than usual) the sons and daughters of friends, colleagues, ex-colleages, acquaintances and assorted others--trying to help them get a leg up as they explore their options during the early stages of their work lives.  Happy to help where and when I can, sorry when I have nothing to offer but advice and best wishes.  Always reminds me how different the world looks to them--and how different a world it is from the one I faced at that juncture. But then again, much hasn't changed.  It's all about energy, focus, ambition, thick-skin and open mind.  And some luck.

And...discovered this while searching for sites to assist promising lad in pursuit of a position:  Assorted questions posed in job interviews from various companies and organizations.  Fun to consider possible connections between nature of questions and source.

“If you were shrunk to the size of a pencil and put in a blender, how would you get out?” – Asked at Goldman Sachs.
“How many ridges [are there] around a quarter?”--Asked at Deloitte.
“What is the philosophy of Martial Arts?” – Asked at Aflac.
“Explain [to] me what has happened in this country during the last 10 years.” – Asked at Boston Consulting.
“Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 how weird you are.” – Asked at Capital One
“How many basketball[s] can you fit in this room” – Asked at Google.
“If you could be any superhero, who would it be?” –  Asked at  AT&T.
“Given the numbers 1 to 1000, what is the minimum numbers guesses needed to find a specific number if you are given the hint “higher” or “lower” for each guess you make.” – Asked at Facebook.
“There are three boxes, one contains only apples, one contains only oranges, and one contains both apples and oranges. The boxes have been incorrectly labeled such that no label identifies the actual contents of the box it labels. Opening just one box, and without looking in the box, you take out one piece of fruit. By looking at the fruit, how can you immediately label all of the boxes correctly?” –Asked at Apple
“How many traffic lights in Manhattan?” – Asked at Argus Information & Advisory Services.
“You are in a dark room with no light. You need matching socks for your interview and you have 19 gray socks and 25 black socks. What are the chances you will get a matching pair? “ – Asked at Eze Castle.
“What do wood and alcohol have in common?” – Asked at Guardsmark.
“How do you weigh an elephant without using a weigh machine?” –  Asked at IBM.
“Why do you think only a small percentage of the population makes over $150K?” –
Asked at New York Life.
“How many bottles of beer are drank in the city over the week?” – Asked at The Nielsen Company.
“How are M&M’s made?” – Asked at US Bank.
“What would you do if you just inherit a pizzeria from your uncle?” –  Asked at Volkswagen.

I have none of the answers...but I do have
more questions....

AT THE WHITE HOUSE CONCERT HONORING Paul McCartney, Jerry Seinfeld addressed the DC in-crowd, and benighted honoree calling into question the meaning of one of Paul's lyrical questions:  “ ‘She was just Seventeen, you know what I mean’… I’m not sure I do know what you mean Sir Paul…”

So....got to thinking about other songs that  POSE  MELODIC QUESTIONS THAT REMAIN UNANSWERED---  AND THAT MAY OR MAY NOT PROMPT INTERACTION WITH ADDITIONAL SUBMISSIONS PROVIDED BY (YOUR NAME HERE)
